Steal of the Week: ESPN 30 for 30 Limited Collector Set

14 Jun

ESPN Films did an amazing job with this series. A lot of big name directors stepped up to the plate to pay homage to lesser known but monumental sports stories that have occurred since ESPN launched in 1979. John Singleton, Spike Jonze, Ice Cube, Barry Levinson, and Morgan Freeman are among those who give us more in-depth accounts of topics that were not fully explored at the time they broke. My personal favorite was “Without Bias,” which chronicles the touchy subject that is Lenny Bias’ death. I was more or less a baby at the time of Len’s death. Before seeing this documentary I had no ideaI of the impact his sudden passing had on the Celtics as a franchise. 22-yeard old. NBA’s No. 2 overall pick. Chance to play with the Celtics OG Big 3. multi million dollar contract with Reebok. Brand new sports car. Dude had the world by the balls. Gone before he even got started. 22 year championship drought followed for Boston. An American tragedy. Very well done film by Kirk Fraser.

Amazon has the entire 30 film series currently listed at $49.99 shipped here
