Anderson Silva vs. Roy Jones Jr?…

14 Mar

“We respect Jones’ boxing ability and think he’s one of the best, but we’re tired of different boxers saying that MMA fighters aren’t technical. Anderson would love to fight Roy Jones in a boxing match under boxing rules to prove that MMA fighters are technical too.” — Anderson’s manager

I honestly thought this whole Anderson Silva wanting to box thing would die down quick, but apparently Roy Jones’ camp has expressed interest, mainly because of the PPV numbers it would potentially draw. I’m not joking when I say that Silva probably has a better chance against one of Roy’s sparring partners. I’d buy this PPV nonetheless, especially if they mixed it up a little and had boxers entering the cage as well. There’s no doubt that this type of event would draw millions. Maybe it would put an end to the MMA vs. boxing debate and show people that athletes stick to their own sports for a reason.  Click here for the MMA Weekly story.

silva wants some money. it is that simple, he may have been a good boxer if he chose it as a kid, but he didn’t, he is willing to be made a fool of to get some real money. and roy will be happy to cash in but if dana white allows the sharade what happens to the mma mistique? the credability goes down a notch. but like i said silva wants to get paid and will get schooled and koed in 6 rounds.

First off okay, obviously Dana and the Fertitta brothers aren’t going to let this happen. Anyways do you actually think Jones Jr.’s management group would throw him into the octagon…no. Also Dana White was an Amatuer boxer for several years, c’mon guys gt real this fight will never happen unless Anderson drops contract with the UFC. Do you guys remeber when Michael Jordan played Mnor League baseball. Same concept he wasn’t trying out for the Yankees, so with that said you could probably figure if the pipedream has any merit he finishes his contract with the UFC his first fight is not going to be Roy Jones Jr.

First off, Silva would give Roy a hell of a hard time. But, if Roy does beat Silva in a boxing match, It’ll be a surprise but acceptable…but if they ever had a MMA match, Silva would DESTROY Roy. Sorry…its just the truth. But getting real, Silva loves what he does way to much to go box. His thing is Muay thai and taekwondo, and BJJ..hes way too involved to start something else, and already thinking of retiring. Love Silva tho, good ass fighter, and one of the most humble fighters, if not the most. Whoever speaks portugues would know that his translator puts aggressiveness in his post fight interview hehe
