UFC 79 Nemesis… Make your predictions!

With two incredible headlining fights in Hughes vs. GSP and Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva I thought this was the best card of the year.  Then I looked at the rest of it and tried not to cry.  I don’t mind watching no names beat each other up, I just don’t like paying to see it.  Anyways here are the matchups, leave your predictions in a comment and see if you can beat us.  If you do we will you win a prize! jk… Do it anyways though.

Matt Serra injured, GSP to Fight Matt Hughes…

Matt Serra suffered a herniated disc in his back during training last week forcing him to withdraw from his long awaited matchup with Matt Hughes. This is pretty shitty news considering the whole TUF season was built around the two and UFC 79 was looking to be the card of the year. Not to worry though, because it was announced yesterday that Georges St. Pierre will fill in for Serra and face Hughes to complete their trilogy. GSP vs. Hughes III will determine the interim welterweight champion.  Hughes vs. GSP 3 and Liddell vs. Silva on the same card? Siiick…

Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva Announced!!!

Last night during the 2007 Scream Awards on Spike TV (which is an awesome award show) Dana White publicly announced that Chuck Liddell will fight Wanderlei “Axe Murderer” Silva on December 29th at UFC 79: NEMESIS, the same night Serra will fight Matt Hughes.  This has been one of the biggest speculatory matches in MMA history and will surely be one of the most exciting fights of the year.  I think Silva’s fearless and extremely aggressive style is going to overwhelm Chuck’s stiking game.  I’ve always thought Liddell to be over-rated and I’m personally forecasting Chuck getting dropped by a flurry of knees.
