Malignaggi’s hair almost costs him IBF belt…

Paulie Malignaggi showed everyone last night why a fighter shouldn’t be worried about how his hair looks coming into a big fight. Not only did it look absolutely ridiculous from the get-go, it almost cost Paulie his IBF title. His doo came unraveled in the 1st round leaving him partially blinded and unable to see the overhand right coming from N’dou. From there on out it was a mess. After every round, the focus of the corner was on taping and trimming his hair until eventually he got it all chopped off in between later rounds. Luckily he grinded out a split decision, setting up a fight with Ricky Hatton.

 

Bernard Hopkins vs. Joe Calzaghe almost a done deal…

 

Looks like Joe Calzaghe of Wales has an upcoming appointment with the ‘Executioner.’ I’ve been sifting through boxing sites looking for official dates. April 12th at a Las Vegas venue seems to be the consensus. I’d love to see Hopkins pull this win off against a tough European in Calzaghe. Would be a great send off for the long time middleweight. Floyd Mayweather to MMA?…

Wow click Floyd’s pic to check out this ESPN story. Not a good move in my opinion considering the dude has been absolutely dominating boxing for years. It has to be some kind of publicity stunt. Following his win over Hatton he did say something about taking a long vacation from boxing. Maybe this is what he was referring to. I think it would be cool to see him in one or two MMA fights, but he needs to come back to boxing because there are still good fights & paydays out there for him.

Malignaggi eyes Ricky Hatton…

 

Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi spit flames at Ricky Hatton today. “The more I see of Ricky, the more I think he’s scared to get hit and that’s why he fights the way he does.” I’d love to see this fight go down. Malignaggi represents the re-birth of Italian American boxing, which is great for the sport. I see him putting on a clinic if this fight gets made. Mayweather-Hatton in 2 Days…

The countdown is finally over. “Money” Mayweather and Ricky Hatton are all set to square of Saturday night in Las Vegas. I found one of the final press conferences via Sky Sports. Surprisingly, Hatton and Mayweather switch roles in this one. Mayweather appears all humble whereas Hatton somehow gained some cockiness. He actually gives the “throat cut” gesture to Floyd. Click on the pic to check it out. As far as the fight goes, I see Floyd Mayweather winning a decision no problem. It will easily be better than the Mayweather-De La Hoya Cinco de Mayo showdown. I have a feelin the arena is going to look a lot like the 1st fight between Bowe and Golota, except this time take out the Pollacks and replace them with Brits.
