UFC 139 is loaded with former champions. Faber, Cung Le, Dan Henderson, and Shogun are all former title holders in either the UFC, Strikeforce, or WEC. Stylistically, they all fight to please the common MMA fan and are battling for title contention. Wanderlei is just the icing on the cake. Guaranteed to see some brutal striking in every main card bout. Should be an excellent card and will likely be worth the $44.99 PPV fee.

Henderson vs. Shogun
Great match up and a worthy main event. Overall, I haven’t been impressed by Shogun since his switch to the UFC. Although he has won some key fights to stay in the picture, his cardio remains his downfall in my eyes.  Hendo is getting older but he is still capable of pressing the action at an impressive pace. No way Shogun can keep up. Also keep in mind that Hendo has never been knocked out and has quite the chin. I like Dan Henerson winning via some type of stoppage.

Wanderlei vs. Cung Le
Wanderlei Silva is pretty much damaged goods at this point. As much as I respect the guy, he’s been knocked out in brutal fashion one too many times. He always comes prepared to slug, but it never appears that he has a gameplan. This entire fight will be fought on the feet and Cung Le is a more well rounded striker. He’ll emerge the victor in a fight that doesn’t last 3 rounds.

Faber vs. Bowles
Two top 5 bantamweights. Could very well win fight of the night honors. Faber is non-stop and Bowles will gladly exchange. I think it will ultimately come down to experience, and Faber has more. He knows how to win fights and will outpoint Bowles in a fight that does go the distance. Faber in 3.

However after three minutes of the Season 2 Premiere I quickly changed my mind.

The Season starts off with a recap of how awful the 1st season was which I brought back fond memories of wasting hours of my life hoping the actors would suddenly learn how to act.

Then it kicks in with the main character Rick Grimes talking about his feelings over a walkie talkie to someone from the first or second episode thats been dead for weeks. It quickly moves to their caravan of survivors rolling out of ATL to Fort Bennett. They quickly become stuck on the highway due to overturned cars and gridlocked traffic. Oh and then their 30 year old RV surprisingly breaks down…

FUCK UP #1 – In the Zombie Apocalypse, invest in new whips and equipment and by INVEST I mean STEAL something new that isn’t 30 FUCKING YEARS OLD. Nobody gives a shit what you steal; EVERYONE IS FUCKING DEAD.

As the kids wander off in a sea of cars and they all meander away solo to reluctantly scavenge supplies, an old man on a roof keeping watch doesn’t see a pack of zombies walk up behind him from the direction they just came 10 minutes ago (somehow driving right past a pack of 200 zombies?). Finally, they notice they have company. They are 50 yards away… Officer Rick Grimes stands among the cars with his sniper rifle breaking all rules of having a fuckin sniper rifle in your hands.

FUCK UP #2 – Put someone with a SNIPER RIFLE and better vision than a 70 year old on fucking roof for look out detail.

He warns the group of the impending horror and has everyone hide in the safest places possible with the easiest way to escape… underneath cars and trucks.

FUCK UP #3 – Don’t hide from a wandering herd of zombies underneath cars and trucks. No where to run and you have to watch your buddies get eaten alive if they are seen.

The stupid blonde (that put her hand BEHIND her sisters head before blowing her head off in the last episode) finds herself in the RV trying to solve the impossible puzzle of reassembling her handgun which is in a mere 5 pieces. She suddenly realizes she’s in the midst of a few hundred zombies and brings all her gun pieces into the shower dropping them and making noise.

FUCK UP #4 – They didn’t let this bitch die in the shower.

One of the last zombies find the little girl and she runs into the woods with two zombies chasing her. Rick Grimes gives pursuit and rolls down a hill losing his rifle in the process… He still has his Sheriff issue circa 1875 giant chrome revolver.

FUCK UP #5… ughhh don’t lose your weapons…

Rick Grimes finds the girl, hides her, runs a quarter mile, bonks the zombies on the head with a rock and smashes their brains out, and when he comes back three minutes later the girl has wandered away and completely disappeared thus wasting more of my life.

FUCK UP #5 – Bonk them with rocks without losing a little girl and wasting 2 days. Actually just fuckin shoot them. This decision ends up fucking him sideways.

Him and some other men search for the girl until dark with no luck and continue the next day. Also the son conveniently finds a bag of the entire line of Gerber Bear Gryls machetes, knives and hatchets. (Yay for shameless product placement…) They resume the search in the morning with no luck. The law of stupid decisions has a chain of negative reactions…

FUCK UP #6 – The group is too incompetent to split up and cover more ground despite having a large amount of functioning guns.

They can’t find her and the most of the group gets sent back to the RV. At this point I realize that they are almost all walking around with purses and shitty backpacks and clothes. One lady is wearing a doyle sweater shirt… she must have checked the weather forecast.

FUCK UP #7 – Don’t go on a Search & Rescue hike in the woods with bags and food you can’t easily run with if needed. Wear legitimate clothes.

For a lack of having his walkie talkie, Rick talks to Jesus this time and makes me loathe the profession of acting. I’m still waiting for someone in the cast to die…  Oh and I mean in real life, not on the show.

Rick, his son, and Shane Walsh, his partner are walking back through the woods when they see a white tail deer in their path. Shane levels his gun to shoot it but the son Carl unexplainably walks towards it and Rick calls Shane off. The men smile gaily while Carl walks towards the deer (in his blaze orange jacket)… and eats a fuckin bullet in the chest that passes right through the deer. PWNED.  Must have been one of those domesticated deers that don’t give a shit if walk up to them despite the fact there 3 men with guns standing close by.

FUCK UP #8 – If you are in a survival situation, SHOOT THE FUCKING DEER.

Is it wrong that I cheered out loud when the boy got shot? Has retard karma finally come full circle for this group? Don’t know and don’t care, all I know is that someone got smoked in this episode and that’s the only reason I’m watching it.

I also found it HILARIOUS that the reason the girl got lost is because Rick didn’t want to shoot his gun to save her life and his son just got smoked through the LUNG by someone merely catching a MEAL. HA! IRONY! See ya next week bitches!

Just saw the Crush Em All Tour this past Monday at The Met in Pawtucket RI.  Co-headlined by Veil of Maya and After The Burial, the tour also included Misery Signals and Within the Ruins as well as Structures.  Originally I though Volumes was playing but they played select dates in order to join a different tour to promote their new album “VIA” which is sick.

I got there at the beginning of Within the Ruins set.  I saw them at Metal Fest this year, they are pretty solid. Singer seemed pissed the crowd was hardly moving but on a Monday at 7:30 in Pawtucket you aren’t gonna get much energy…  Kudos to him for trying though.

I was looking forward to Misery Signals the most as their album “Controller” is in steady rotation on my MP3 player.  They didn’t disappoint and the crowd was really into them; there were some die hard MS fans fucking shit up.  I figured they would be the best band of the night but I couldn’t even pick a favorite if I tried.

After The Burial really killed it.  Their lead guitarist Trent Hafdahl is a BEAST.  I haven’t been that impressed by a guitarist in a long time.  ”Aspirations” is ridiculous live.  Both guitarists ripped on black-light 8 strings and the singer kept the energy super high.  He dedicated a song to his late mother which was so intense it gave me the chills.  The whole band was impressive.

Veil of Maya is a band I never really got into but live they were great, very technical. Sometimes it takes seeing a band live to get into them.

I would definitely HIGHLY recommend both this tour and seeing any of these bands perform outside the tour.
The Met is also a decent little venue.  Lots of pillars so I can’t see any great pits going on here (the circle pit attempt was interesting) but spacious with good sound and a nice deck for smokers.  Too bad Pawtucket is a fucking shithole!

Death Valley is MTVs latest show designed to phase out music videos entirely. Debuts tomorrow at 10:30 after the new Rob Dyrdek show Ridiculousness at 10:00.  Looks like a Reno 911 + a George Romero movie sprinkled with some True Blood.  I enjoy the Sean of the Deadesque treatment of the undead genre almost as much as I like 28 Weeks Later style flicks.  Also keep an eye out for the upcoming “World War Z” movie starring Brad Pitt.  If they got Brad for it, its gotta be a dope movie.  Might need to check out the book too.

Homeboy in the Joe Montana jersey is going hard the entire duration of this little fan brawl. After watching this clip about three times I’m pretty convinced he caved in around three people. Hard to tell which side he’s on. Basically does his best Tank Abbott impression and goes after anyone within his reach.

NEW YORK (AP) – The Situation doesn’t usually require a lot of motivation to lose the shirt. But Abercrombie & Fitch wants him to go one further – the company has offered to pay “Jersey Shore” cast members to stop wearing clothes carrying their brand.

The preppy teen retailer said Tuesday it would pay a “substantial payment” to Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino or any cast member who stops wearing its clothing on the popular MTV reality show because the series is “contrary to the aspirational nature of the brand.”

“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image,” the retailer said in a press release.

These idiots should have checked their past t-shirt lines before dropping this nonsense on the Situation. They think this dude will damage their image? I’m thinking these A&F corporate fags have never walked into one of their own store fronts or taken a look around at who wears their $70.00 cargo shorts. Damaged is something their image is well past.

Kimbo Slice is a bona fide hustler. Started out as a high school and college linebacker, but was denied by the Miami Dolphins in his only tryout with the team. Discovered that football wasn’t his calling, so he took to the street earning e-props as one of the best alleyway brawlers. Meanwhile, he was up to his elbows in ass as a bodyguard for the Reality Kings porno dudes. MMA promoters finally discovered him and paid Kimbo to put his street skills to the ultimate test (something the entire MMA world was calling for). He squeezed as much out of mixed martial arts as he possibly could and now he’ll probably live out the remainder of his athletic career beating up tomato cans while the world enjoys the show. That’s what I call the American Dream.

A couple months back I read a pretty amazing news story about a pod of dolphins in Ireland that unsuccessfully attempted to rescue a construction worker that fell into the ocean. It got me googling for related stories. Somehow I was directed to a review for the The Cove. It’s a couple years old but sounded really interesting. The documentary tells the story of Ric O’Barry and his dream team group of animal activists as they attempt to shed light on the sickening slaughter of dolphins that occurs every September in Taiji, Japan. I was blown away. It’s easily up there with Hoop Dreams as one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. Combine an animal-liberation message with a spy thriller and a touch of conspiracy and The Cove is the result.

It would take a massive choke for Nyjah NOT to emerge as the champ here. He’s dominated every stop and takes a nice point lead into Jersey on the 28th. Seems like it’s almost too easy for him. Kid is only 16 years old but has the swag of veteran. Looks effortless. For me, it doesn’t matter who wins. I tune in for the contrasting styles. P-Rod’s switch skills, Sheckler and his go big or go home philosophy, Torey Pudwill’s innovation, and so on. It’s been fun to watch this summer.
